Dress up Photoshoots

Museumfoto

a group of people posing for a Dutch Painting photoshootthe camera

Become an artwork of a Dutch Master.  This place is great, it’s a tiny little shop/studio attached to the back of the New Church on Dam Square. They recreate a Dutch Master painting with you as one of the characters, dressed in costume.  Us Four Dam Guides dropped by and were transformed: me into the Prince of Orange, Lee into Vermeer’s milkmaid, Rob became Hals’s Happy Drinker and Benjamin… Rembrandt.

Opening times vary but basically, they are open:

Monday and Tuesday: 11am to 2pm

Wednesday to Saturday: 11am to 6pm

Sunday: Closed

From Wednesday to Saturday, you can make an evening appointment if you have at least 4 people. Call Peter on +31 62951 7295

Costs:

1 photo, 1 person, 1 print           14.50

1 photo, 2 people, 2 prints        22.00

1 photo, 3 to 5 people, 2 prints 33.00

Extra print or copy by email        5.00

You can find them at Eggerstraat 2 which is behind the New Church on Dam Squuare and is actually part of the church building.

The little area behind the New Church is also stuffed full of other great places too.  De Drie Graafjes is great for a quick cheap lunch as well as Sie Joe for a quick plate of Indonesian food, De Drie Flesches is an old Proeflocaal, a tasting bar where you can sample Dutch liquors, in Graventraat is the cozy little Cafe Belgique specializing in Belgian beers, Baraka is a perfectly decent coffee shop and there is the smart shot attached to the back of the church selling magic truffles for the insane.  There’s almost no reason to leave this picture postcard perfect little pocket of Amsterdam!

Pose as a Prostitute in a Red Light Window

This is such a great idea and done so well, a mini photoshoot posing in a Red Light District window.  They have wigs, outfits, shoes, makeup, you name it.  You dress, or undress, you pose, they shoot!

They have a deal for 25 euros each or just a quickie for 10 euros per person (no discount on the quickie). That’s without the whole dress up thing, just a wig and whatever you happen to be wearing (you can always strip off a layer as Lealu and I  did above)!  You will NEVER be able to spend even the smallest amount of time in a prostitution window in the Red Light District for less than that!

They also now have burlesque costumes and props with a burlesque backdrop so you can let your inner Bettie Page break free.

You can find the shop/studio in a small side alley off the Warmoesstraat, that is the street with all the hostels leading off the Dam Square towards Central Station.  It is at Sint Jansstraat 35, the first alley on the right heading away from the Dam Square.

Opening hours:  Phone Hans first though to make a time to meet at the studio as he is a one-man band. The photo shoots take a bit of time it is best to book first.   call on  – 020 772 4167  or check them out online: Funny Photoshoot
