Scandinavian Embassy has been on my list as a place to try coffee for ages. Indeed the coffee was super. They have all sorts of fancy kinds and brews but the bog standard late hit the spot with me.

What actually got me off by butt and across town on a cold winter morning was a review I read about their eggs royale. It was lovely, full of flavour cured salmon, perfect poached egg, a bed of leaves, toasted Scandinavian rye bread.

I’m really not a fan of rye bread so was a bit disappointed that it was the only option to have under my egg but it was excellent and I would gladly eat it again. It was light, not like the heavy stuff they sell in supermarkets here. The toast and cheese and jam plate was tasty too.

It didn’t fill me up for the day but if you are staying in De Pijp and want a light and tasty breakfast it is really worth a visit. There were other offering too, like muesli & yoghurt etc. There were no sausages or bacon in sight, it’s not that kind of place so if you are looking for a full English, look away now! I would have photographed the menu had I known it was not on their website, a good reason to go back.

Talking of which, click this link to Scandinavian Embassy’s very chic website for times etc
