Van Gogh Museum in Hermitage Amsterdam

The Van Gogh Museum has relocated there until 25 April 2013 and they have done a spectacular job hanging the most important 75 Van Gogh pieces.  I know the VG museum well and was bowled over by the way the paintings are now grouped and displayed at the Hermitage.  It’s wonderful and fresh with great use of space and wall colours, particularly in the smaller rooms.

Peter the Great, an Inspired Tsar

A very interesting exhibition that charts Tsar Peter’s extraordinary life and emphasises his links to Amsterdam during his two European jaunts.   Links such as Amsterdam being the inspiration for St Petersburg so no more of this nonsense about St Petersburg being the Venice of the North please.

Tickets for access to one of the exhibitions costs  €15.00 or for both you pay €20.00 so I would go for both

The Hermitage Museum is on the Amstel River between the Rembrandt Plein and the Waterlooplein Flea Market.

Opening Times:  Daily, 09h00 to 17h00
