This is an old favourite of mine, one of the nicest and most welcoming ‘brown cafes’ of Amsterdam. It is right on the Nieuwmarkt Square but somehow maintains its local feel. The old floor and wall tiles and wooden tables and chairs create a very comfortable and cosy environment and the terrace is perfect for warmer days. There’s a lovely cat with attitude, it will come and sit on your lap and absorb affection graciously and then at a certain point decide that’s enough and lash out so keep half an eye on it!
The good selection of drinks are very reasonably priced, all a bit cheaper than elsewhere. The food that I’ve tried there has been good, the ciabattas for €6 were tasty and filling . Breakfast from 08h30 and light lunches & snacks all day.
