The Dappermarkt, in Amsterdam East, is a real neighbourhood street market with absolutely no tourist element or focus so if you want to see where locals shop for cheap stuff look no further! The market is best in the mornings and differs a bit from day to day. On Mondays, for example, there are many stalls with piles of clothes to rummage through and they cost 50 cents or a euro a piece. in the photos above the market looks very foodie but there are loads of cheap clothing stalls too, from shoes to jackets and lingerie, cheap underwear and socks etc. At the Western entrance to the market is a stall selling Doners so tasty that it gets its own post here!
To get there take the 22 bus or 10 tram and ask the driver where to get off. If you go all the way out east then check out my ‘East map‘ under the map menu and see some other things to do in the area.
